Let’s keep it simple! Here are FIVE things you can focus on over the holidays to improve your fitness!
- Plan your meals so you won’t be hungry when your co-worker brings holiday treats to the office! When you are hungry, you are much more vulnerable to eating something that is outside of your norm. Don’t let yourself get hangry!
- Get some movement every day. On those days, you can’t make it to the gym, make the most of the daylight hours to get outside – go for a walk or work in the yard. It will do you good.
- Invest in your sleep. Our society doesn’t value rest; it values work! However, getting enough quality sleep can help weight loss and physical performance. How much is enough? Do you wake up without an alarm clock most mornings? If not, think about getting in more shut-eye time!
- Treat your training times like a date with your friends. Community keeps you invested! It’s easy to blow off your training when you are too busy over the holidays. If you train with friends and treat it like a date with them, you are much more likely to make it happen. We recommend sending a text or making a social media post to let your gym-fam know when you will be there — so they will be looking for you!
- Don’t wait until after the holidays are over to start something new. If you want to start, don’t wait until the holidays are over. There will never be a perfect time to start. Just start! Starting with baby steps is the best way to make it part of your life. If you start something now, by the time the holidays are over, you will already be well on your way to forming better habits in the new year.
